How to emulate IE on your Mac with IES4OSX
In my last post I revealed that this site was finally 100% functional in Internet Explorer after many hours of re-coding and re-working the back-end structure. In this post, I’d like to give a shout-out to the tool that helped me achieve this. IES4OSX is an absolute must have for any Mac based web designer. I’d never heard of this tool until a couple of days ago, but am I happy I found it. Basically, it emulates Internet Explorer, versions 5 through 7 as though they were running on a PC, on your Mac.
Now, there are several advantages to this:
2) You can run IE5, IE5.5, IE6 and IE7 all at once while you are testing - A PC cannot do this.
3) If you run Windows as a parallel on your Mac, you no longer have to switch to it to test your site.
The program is dead-set easy to install - like most Mac apps you simply drag the app’s folder into your Applications folder and its done. The only drawback is you must own an Intel processor Mac to run it, however if I were without one, I’d gladly buy an Intel based Mac over a new PC any day.
So this program saves you money, saves you time, and means you can stay Mac-happy without having to switch to Windows for your testing. Thumbs up all the way, go grab yourself a copy of IES4OSX right now, you won’t regret it!
